Long term needs

The following areas are needs Freedom House has for long term, consistent volunteers. In these instances, we would welcome your commitment to serve on a regular basis in the following areas (some are duplicates of the immediate, short term needs listed before, but these areas would most benefit from someone consistently responding mainly due to interaction with residents):

  • Food Prep: Bring in meals for families or cook a meal at Freedom House on a regular basis (i.e., once a week, once a month, etc.)
  • Childcare: Watch the children while parents look for work or housing (daytime hours) or when we have bible, budgeting and parenting classes (evening hours) again on a regular basis
  • Tutoring: Help teach our and/or their children basic skills on a regular basis.
  • Mentoring: We pair our graduating families with a family in the community to walk alongside and give residents someone in the community they can go to with issues that may arise, to call once in a while, and just to have the reassurance that someone cares. This would be an ongoing commitment.
