Yes, in kind donations and time spent with us are precious gifts and we relish each and every one, but when the rubber hits the road, what we need most desperately is cold, hard cash to keep functioning as we ought. Especially in this tight economy when donations are down for everyone while the need for our services has nearly doubled, it’s the commitment of our monthly donors who truly make possible the wonderful things that Freedom House does. Despite belt-tightening our already razor thin budget, cutting back staff and pay cuts, our budget remains at $540,000. Put in simple terms, here’s what a monthly investment means to real people in our community:

• $25 each month will provide food for a family of four for one week, warm hats and mittens for 15 children or school supplies for 10 children.
• $50 each month will provide food for a family of four for two weeks, winter coats for 20 children or a gift under the Christmas tree for 25 children.
• $100 each month will provide food for a family of four for one month; beds, blankets and pillows for 40 people or transportation vouchers for five families of four.
• $250 each month will provide food for a family of four for their entire stay at Freedom House; a dedicated case manager for seven families or all of the household furnishings for 10 families’ New Beginnings.
