GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - A Preble High School senior is lending a helping hand to Freedom House homeless shelter.

Over the past few months, 17-year-old Austin Moore, who is an Eagle Scout, has been hard at work rebuilding Freedom House’s playground.  He finally finished the project this past weekend.

The new equipment includes new swings, a slide, and a new rock wall.

Both Austin and Freedom House leaders say it will be a big help to the facility.

“we’re able to use it with our daycare center,” Robyn Davis who is the Executive Director of Freedom House says, “which really also helps with learning for our younger residents as well as their development.”

“Freedom House in general has helped a lot of families and it’s good to help those families and the kids enjoy their time there,” Austin says.

That’s not the only help Freedom House is getting.  On Friday morning, another eagle scout named John Deckert will begin construction on a new warehouse for the shelter.

Construction is expected to finish in October.
