Freedom House was started in 1992 by a handful of Green Bay churches who were very concerned about the issue of homelessness here in our community. Its first building housed 4 families on N. Irwin Avenue.  In 2004, Freedom House Ministries moved to its current 17-room facility on St. Anthony Drive where it tripled its capacity to serve all types of homeless families with children in the Greater Green Bay/Brown County area.

Hopelessness to Hope: Freedom House guides families every step of the way – from securing basic needs to preparing to launch them out on their own – skilled, hopeful and ready to meet life’s challenges. In a nutshell, we offer solutions. Since we opened in 1992:

• Nearly 900 families have been served
• Nearly 2000 children have seen hope restored
• Fewer than 5% have returned to homelessness – that’s a whopping 95 percent success rate – over 3200 vibrant, participating members of our local community helping to make us a better place than we were before!

Our vision

The mission of Freedom House Ministries is to serve the needs of the homeless, helpless and hopeless families in the Greater Green Bay, Wisconsin area and to fulfill Jesus’ charge explained in Matthew 25:32-46:

“… for I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was homeless and you gave me a room, I was shivering and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I was in prison and you came to me … Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.” (MSG)

Our mission

Freedom House is a ministry doing the work of Jesus Christ by meeting the needs of homeless families in Brown County. We are good stewards of God’s resources, giving all the glory to Him.

We will continue to provide programs that cause families to be successful in all areas of their lives … spiritually, emotionally, socially, physically, financially and intellectually. We will provide a positive and beneficial environment that will encourage families to live more productive, healthy and fulfilling lives!
