Freedom House is in the business of helping people, specifically, people in need – dire need. We, in compassion, provide for the short-term needs of homeless families and children, and in love, empower these families with long-term solutions to end their cycle of homelessness. If we do our jobs right, Freedom House will seem less like an emergency shelter and more like a full-service experience, maybe like going home to see Mom.

We welcome every resident with a letter that states, in part, “We believe that every person who comes through our door is here for a reason and a purpose. The goal of this ministry is to help you break free from feeling like you are just surviving and help you to not only survive and thrive within society, but to come alive.”

At Freedom House, our purpose is to serve Green Bay/Brown County area families who find themselves in need of emergency housing. Our program involves a step-by-step action plan individualized for each family aimed at obtaining permanent housing and employment, and restoring the family unit. The result is a positive and beneficial environment that encourages families to live more productive, healthy and fulfilling lives.

We work to make time at Freedom House the turning point that changes their lives for the better, not the stigma of being the low point when they hit rock bottom. Thanks to the many contributions of the community, volunteers, ministry partners and staff, Freedom House is making a real and tangible difference in the lives of 100 families each year – and fully 95% of these families are restored, newly-skilled, emboldened with hope and never return to shelter, except to volunteer their time and compassion to others in need!
